今頃の更新で申し訳ありませんが、中田が放った初ホームラン動画を掲載します。2008年の3月に行われた、日本ハム－阪神戦での会心一発です。
オープン戦なので、記録としては残りませんが、中田がプロに入って打った最初のホームランです。相手は阪神の筒井、1対3とリードされている五回裏の先頭打者として登場。2ー3からの8球目の真ん中から少しインコースよりのストレートを思いっきり引っ張り、レフト場外へのホームラン。解説では、グランド奥にある名護湾まで届いたと言われているが、それほどの迫力を持った、打った瞬間にそれと分かるホームランです。
この打席は、0-2、1-2、1-3と常に中田のバッティングカウントで進んでいたが、カウントを取りにくる甘いボールを次々とファールにしてしまい結局は、2-3になってしまった。しかし、中田はそこからストレートと変化球の両方にくらいついて、なかなかいい粘りを見せた。そして、最後に来た内よりベルト付近の甘いストレートを見逃さずに強振。
打った瞬間にみんなが「行った！」と思うほどの完璧な当たりでした。僕もこのオープン戦はずっとテレビで見ていました。解説者の佐々木氏もホームランの瞬間は思いっきりテンションが上がっていましたが、僕も負けず劣らず大騒ぎしていました。
ただ、冷静にこの打席を見てみると、まだまだ、これからという感じでした。高校野球の投手と対戦しているのだったらこれでもいいのですが、やはり内に行く動き出しが遅く、何かあわててスイングをしている感じでしたね。また、中田の打撃分析は別のエントリで語りたいと思ってます＾＾；
