「中田はようやくプロ野球選手になっきた」と最近私はつくづく思います。１３日、１４日と一軍でのオープン戦に出場した中田ですが、得意の打撃では内野安打一本と、決して良いとは言えない結果。しかし、私はこの２試合見ていて中田は、本当のプロ野球選手になってきたなぁと強く感じています。
少し大袈裟かもしれませんが、それくらい中田にとってのこの2試合は、野球における大事なものを気づかせてくれた内容の濃い試合だったと思います。
憶測の範疇をこえませんが、中田は常に首脳陣にアピールするには、「バッティングで結果を残すことが全て」と考えていたのではないでしょうか？守備や走塁は人並みくらいに無難にこなし、得意の打撃でアピールする。そんな感じがプンプンしていました。
打撃以外は守備も走塁も得意ではない、というよりどちらかと言えば苦手な方。事実、この２試合以前は、守備や走塁で脚光を浴びる事などほとんどありませんでした。したがって、この２つで他の選手よりも上に行き、強くアピールする事は出来ないと考えていたのかもしれません。
しかし、実際、この２試合で中田がアピールしたのは、苦手にしていた守備と走塁。今まで首脳陣が半信半疑に思っていた部分を、「一軍で使える！」と感じさせる十分なアピール。もしかすると、この２つが開幕一軍の決め手になると言う事も十分に考えられる大きなアピールでした。
首脳陣が使いたい選手は、決してただ打てるだけの選手ではなく、チームの勝利に貢献出来る選手。どうでもいい場面でしか活躍しない選手は、チームにとっては必要ありません。常勝チーム日本ハムには、数字で表れない部分で活躍できる選手がたくさんいます。そんな彼らが、いい場面で数字に表れない仕事をするからこそ、この強さがあるのだと思います。
中田も決してこの２試合数字的にはよくありませんでした。しかし、数字に表れない部分で大きくチームに貢献したと私は思います。しかもそれが、今まで苦手にしていた守備と走塁で・・・。
１３日のロッテ戦の中田は、打点こそ三失で一つ稼ぎましたが、それより何より良かったのが三回の捕殺。いくらダルビッシュが先発していたからと言って、先制点を取られることはチームにとっては大きな痛手。中田の捕殺は後のゲーム展開を大きく左右する場面でやった、重要なプレーでした。
また、今日（１４日）のヤクルト戦でも、日ハム得意のビッグイニングを途切れさせないサードへの内野安打。ボテボテのサードゴロを全力で走り、必死に安打をもぎ取った。このヒットは決して数字でのいう所の単なる「Ｈ」ではありません。中田が必死になって全力疾走をする事によって、チーム全体が活気づき、次の打者へと気持ちが繋がるという、まさにファイターズがやっていきたい攻めを実践したようのものでした。
中田はこの２試合で打撃成績という数字の面では結果を残せませんでしたが、チームの勝利に貢献するという目に見えない部分で大変な活躍をしました。恐らく中田は、この２試合で得意の打撃以外でも、やり方次第ではチームにしっかりと貢献でき、さらに首脳陣にもアピール出来る事が実感出来たんじゃないでしょうか？
野球はやはり走攻守。得意、不得意に関係なく、勝つ為にはどれも疎かには出来ないという事ですね。本当に収穫の多い、良い２試合だったと思います。
恐らく、これで開幕一軍はほぼ確定したでしょうが、この開幕一軍は決して首脳陣によって安易に与えられたものではありません。中田がキャンプから必死に続けてきた努力が報われ、自分の力でもぎ取ったものだと私は思います。
中田には勿論、色んな数字的な記録も期待してしまいますが、やっぱりチームを勝利に導ける、そんな大選手になってほしいです。それは、打撃だけではなくて、守備でも走塁でも。
まだ開幕一軍が完全に決まった訳ではありませんが、ほぼ間違いないと勝手に考えましたので少し大袈裟に書いてみました。二軍スタートになっても恨まないで下さいね。
