中田が２軍の本拠地である鎌ヶ谷で契約更改交渉を行い、現状維持の１２００万円でサインした。二年目だった今季、イスタンリーグでは本塁打・打点のリーグ新記録を作ったが、一軍定着を果たせず、出場した２２試合で「打率２７８、打点１、本塁打０」とチームに貢献できなかった。中田は「２年目は（１軍の）打席にも立ったし勉強になりました。それは３年目に生きると思うし、勝負だと思います」とすでに来年を見据えていた。
これがもしかすると、今年最後の中田のニュースになるかもしれませんね。
今年は、まあ頑張ったと思います。
色んな人から練習態度やベンチで姿勢など野球の技術以前の問題で指摘をうけていましたが、そんな事も含めてこの一年と言うのは中田にとって成長を感じれられるモノだったんではないでしょうか。
しかし、来年は中田も言うように勝負の年。
一軍定着を果たせないと、ちょっと厳しくなってきます。
来年は、日本ハムも本気で中田のレギュラー定着に乗り出してくると思います。
金銭面で折り合わなかったとはいえ、年俸１億３０００万程度のスレッジをあえて放出したのは、もしかする中田のレギュラーポジションを空けるためだったのかもしれません。（あくまでも推測ですよ）
まあ、真実はどうであれ、結果、スレッジがいたDHやレフトは狙えるポジションになりました。今の日本ハムを見ている限り、中田がレギュラー奪えるポジションは本当にそのDHかレフトくらいしかありません。中田はここを本気で狙って行って欲しいですね。
